OUR PROCESS
At La Bodega Tequila, everything we do is built around one core belief: great tequila should never be watered down. That’s why our tequila is bottled at 44% ABV, what we proudly call Craft Strength. It’s not just stronger. It’s bolder, richer, and delivers a true expression of agave flavor the way it was meant to be enjoyed.
here’s how we craft a tequila that lives up to that standard:
Born for Boldness: Craft Strength
Most tequilas are cut to 40% ABV, but we’re not most tequilas. We bottle at 44%, a decision that defines everything we do. This higher proof preserves the full integrity of the agave, delivers deeper flavor, and enhances performance in cocktails. From the first sip, you'll taste the difference: more character, more depth, and a finish that lasts.
High-Quality Agave from Los Altos de Jalisco
We hand-select only the finest agave from the highlands of Los Altos de Jalisco, known for producing sweeter, more flavorful piñas. This natural richness stands up beautifully at Craft Strength, resulting in a tequila that’s as smooth as it is bold.
Slow-Cooked in Traditional Masonry Ovens
Our agave hearts are cooked slowly in masonry ovens, extracting the pure, sweet notes that serve as the foundation of our flavor. Traditional cooking methods ensure the tequila is balanced and rich, even at 44% ABV.
Fermented for Consistency and Complexity
Using a combination of time-honored techniques and modern technology, we control the fermentation process to highlight the natural sweetness and earthy tones of the agave. This creates a fermented must that holds up to our bold bottling strength without losing nuance.
Distilled in Stainless Steel for Clean Character
We distill in stainless steel stills to produce a bright, clean tequila that lets the agave speak for itself. The result is a spirit that’s smooth, expressive, and ready to shine at higher proof.
Rested in American and French Oak for Extra Depth
Our tequila is then aged in 60% American Oak and 40% French Oak Barrels, adding layers of flavor—subtle spice, vanilla, and toasted oak—that elevate the experience without overpowering the agave. Even at Craft Strength, La Bodega remains incredibly drinkable.
